The design of the wine tasting room was to compliment the fresh attitude the owners had to wine, food and entertaining in general.
As the owners were launching a new label they decided it was appropriate to establish their image afresh.
As the property had many existing old buildings, it was decided to convert one of them into the wine centre. They choce an 1876 heritage listed stione barn for this purpose. The existing building was originally hand constructed from stacked stone and rubble found on the property.
As the internal temperature and air quality had to be stabilised Hicks decided that all internal walls should be hard plastered to provide a sealed inner lining.
The client wanted to insert a modern timeless interior into the heritage building to reflect the freshness of the new wines while still keeping some level of texture and warmth.
