If people in glasshouses shouldn't throw stones then the pebbles in the courtyard of Republe 2 will never need replacing.
The multi-level project includes 40 one-bedroom units, 49 two-bedroom units and seven three-bedroom units.
The project has been designed by Burley Katon Halliday, which won the commission after Trafalgar's chairman, Robert Whyte, saw its Spring, Potts Point, cafe interiors
"This is a great site with fabulous city views," said Burley Katon Halliday architect, David Katon said. "We are creating a cluster of elegant and appealing apartments for the new urban lifestyle - a very diverse range of apartments for people with their own individual design aesthetic."
The residential complex, surrounded by Bourke, Burton, Liverpool and Palmer streets, will feature a food, dining and retail forecourt area on Palmer Street.
The development's first stage, Republic 1, involved the refurbishment of 11 terrace houses along Liverpool and Palmer streets creating a mix of office, retail and loft residential space.
The residential development replaces the old Sargents Pie Factory which had been largely vacant since 1989.
