Dodds House
SEARCH
Dodds house is situated at the intersection of two narrow lanes in the backstreets of Sydney's Surrey Hills. It occupiesa corner a corner site (typical of a corner shop) adjacent to a row of terraces.
Externally the house is a grey box broken up by external louvres. When the louvres are closed the building appears very utalitarian and hard wearing. When the louvres are open the facade becomes subtly animated without acrificing privacy
Internally the structure is rectangular with a simple open plan living space on the ground floor and a mezzanine sleeping area above.
Doods house combinesa small private courtyard on the lower level with a more expansive outward looking private space on the upper floor
The interior are elegant and technically restrained , being sheathed in an functional and unassuming exterior
While the majority of the interior is finished in cool whites and greys, a striking yellow storage unit slices vertically through the ground floor and mezzanine
Simplicity and purity
